Smoking Affects Millions

Smoking affects millions of people. It harms almost every organ in the human body and causes many diseases. Quiting now is your best chance of living a long and productive life. Quiting has an immediate effect as well as a long term effect for you as well as your loved ones. YOU CAN QUIT! People are doing it everyday. With a little help and a great determination you CAN SUCCEED!!!!

There are many benefits to quitting smoking. First of all, quitting now will greatly reduce the risk of premature death. Of course, the earlier you quit, the better.
Risks for coronary disease and strokes among other diseases will greatly reduce as well.
Women who stop smoking before or during pregnancy reduce their risk for adverse reproductive outcomes such as infertility or having a low-birth-weight baby.

Most smokers are very dependent on Nicotine. A drug used in tobacco products. Even smokeless tobacco can lead to nicotine addiction. Nicotine is as addictive as heroin, alcohol, and cocaine.

REMEMBER: It takes most people several attempts at quiting smoking before they become successful. If you fail, just jump right back in there and try again.
First things first in quitting! Get a support group if at all possible. Talking with others that have kicked the habit can be tremendous in your success. Learn new things to do with your time. Keeping yourself occupied will be a major influence in your succeeding as well. Ask your medical provider for help as well. And remember, if you fail, TRY TRY AGAIN!!

Select a day to quit and stick to it.
Get rid of all cigeratte ashtrays and everything pertaining to smoking away from you.
Come up with something else to do when your cravings attack. Fill in the voids.
Mainly, dont fool yourself by saying you can smoke JUST ONE PUFF! Don't give in to it!

With every craving, finding something else to do will help you like you would never imagine and in no time at all, you will start to notice that you have done it!

As far as weight gain goes, Many smokers will gain some weight when they quit, usually less than 10 pounds. Eat a healthy diet and stay active. Don't let weight gain distract you from your main goal—quitting smoking. Some quit-smoking medications may help delay weight gain.
Dont let a bad mood or depression stop you from quitting! You will find that there are many ways to improve your mood and help you through this difficult and trying time.
